TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHAT MADE YOU START THE SEPTEMBER EDIT?
My name is Caroline Birk Bahrenscheer, I am 29 and married on my 3rd year. I live in Copenhagen with my husband and bonus daughter. I work as a PR & Communication manager for the danish Design company Stelton.
Instagram was a game changer for me. For me It’s like a keyhole to the world. I started September edit the instagram first, then september edit the tumblr and my tumblr page suddenly gained a lot of hits and my follower amount increased really fast. Then I started September edit the blog. My instagram is purely images that I take myself where as the blog & tumblr is where I share some of the inspiration I find, latest news and trends.
I found my self saving a huge amount of inspiration on my computer and I thought that it would be better to share it with the world than hiding it away in digital folder.
WE LOVE YOUR NORDIC MINIMALIST AESTHETIC WITH A TIMELESS TAKE ON DESIGN. WHAT’S YOUR SOURCE OF INSPIRATION?
This is the question that I get asked the most and I still find it difficult to answer.
I have many sources of inspiration but mostly it pop up in time and places that I don’t expect. Instagram is a great way to find talented people around the world but it can also take up all your time, so I have a some profiles that I visit daily or weekly. I don’t scroll through my feed overtime like I use to do. I also find great inspiration in printed niche magazines like, Cereal, Kinfolk & Union…
YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE A VERY BUSY SCHEDULE. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT WORKING?
Well my “real” job is 40 hours a week so when I am not working I am actually working on the blog and my instagram. When I am not doing that, I visit favourite places in Copenhagen, museums, stores and cafés. I love people watching, I find it really fascinating,
WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING ON LATELY?
Lately I have been working on a project for the danish design company Bang & Olufsen who produce and design luxury televisions and speakers. It is a really cool challenge to work with another type of product than furniture or fashion. Working outside of my comfort zone is where I really evolve.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM SHOOT OR COLLABORATION?
I would love to work with a big international company that really has a strong aesthetic. It could be Aesop, Kinfolk companies that do not compromise.
LET’S TALK ABOUT STYLE ICONS… WHOSE STYLE DO YOU ADMIRE THE MOST AND WHY?
When it comes to fashion I admire these two instagrammers. Window of Imagination is not a fashion profile but she has a very contemporary style just like me. Monikh is more of a fashion profile and is spot on, on the latest trends but still with a contemporary twist.
WHAT ARE YOUR KEY WARDROBE STAPLES AND WHERE ARE THEY FROM?
My Proenza Schouler python bag cross over, which has the perfect size for my everyday life, biking around the city. A black contemporary cape and trouser from the danish brand Hofmann Copenhagen and the classic shirt, I have several from different brands in different colours and material.
IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT, WHAT WOULD YOU BUY?
I would by an apartment in every great city in Europe so I always has the chance to go for a mini holiday and explore new inspiration.
FAVOURITE QUOTE OR WORDS YOUR LIVE BY?
Work hard and be kind to people.
WHAT ITEMS ARE ON YOUR WISHLIST FOR UPCOMING SEASON?
Right now, I would by a Céline tri-fold shoulder bag in stone supple natural calfskin and a gold ring from Katkim New York.
