How to Pack Light for a Short Getaway

If you follow me over on Instagram you’ll know I recently travelled to Ibiza with my daughter, so I wanted to share a few tips and tricks on how to pack light. Fitting everything into one carry-on cabin suitcase can be an efficient way to travel, keep on reading for my guide to help you make the most of your limited packing space!

  1. Plan Your Outfits:

Start by planning your outfits for each day, keeping in mind the weather and activities you’ll be doing. Stick to versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched or go for all-in-one options like jumpsuits and dresses. Consider lightweight, breathable fabrics suitable for the Mediterranean climate.

2. Lay Out Everything:

Lay out all the clothing, footwear, and accessories you intend to bring. This visual inventory will help you see if you’re overpacking.

3. Stick to a minimalist wardrobe:

Think in terms of a color scheme that can be easily mixed and matched. This reduces the number of clothes you need to pack.

4. Roll, Don’t Fold:

Rolling your clothes instead of folding them can save space and prevent wrinkles. Use packing cubes optimize space.

5. Footwear:

Bring two pairs of shoes each – comfortable walking shoes for exploring and a versatile pair for evenings. Wear the bulkiest pair on the plane to save space. I travelled from cold London in boots, leggings, a sweatshirt and blazer.

6. Toiletries:

Opt for travel-sized toiletries. We are staying at my lovely friend Veronica’s house so that made my packing much easier : )

7. Accessories:

Keep accessories to a minimum. I traveled with my beach tote and only packed statement earrings and one small evening bag.

8. Beach wear:

Bring lightweight beach towels if needed, or sarongs that can double as a cover-up. I packed two swimsuits each.

9. Pack Smart:

Use every inch of your suitcase. Stuff socks inside shoes, use the corners, and utilize the space.

By following these tips and being mindful of the items you truly need, you should be able to fit everything in a single carry-on suitcase. It’ll not only make your travel more convenient but also allow you to fully enjoy your trip without the burden of excessive luggage. Bon voyage : )
